Existence of God: Fulfillment of the Word of God

Existence of God: Fulfillment of the Word of God

Language serves as a bridge that links the past to the present and to the future. Language is something that can be transmitted from one generation to another. Meaning, the language that we used today is, most likely, the very same language that our parents and grandparents used. We may find difficulty in communicating with people of different nationalities because of language diversity. But there was a particular period in the history of mankind when the whole of the earth spoke only in one language. Genesis 11:1 tells us that in the beginning there was no language barrier among men then because there was only one language being spoken.

From the time of Adam and Eve up to the time of Noah, people used only one language. It was explained that Adam and Eve learned the language they used from the Being that created them. And that was God. God spoke to Adam. In fact, God even warned Adam about the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In other words, the first mouth that spoke, which was heard by man, was God’s. The main point here is the fact that God speaks even to mortals like us. Our God had spoken of many things that are coming to pass now. And since we believe that the Words of God is the best evidence of His existence, this is the topic that we will try to expound on, thru the help of God, of course.

The word of God is potent, and it is a very important proof of God’s existence. Why? It is because His spoken words can never be refuted even if you speak a different language or dialect. If you grew up in an environment wherein English is the language that your parents, or guardians, speak, even if you are a full-blooded Spanish, chances are, you are going to learn the English language. A child of Spanish parentage, who grew up in the US and got exposed with the English-speaking people, is bound to learn the English language. If Adam learned a particular language, it must be the language that he had heard from God. The Bible said that God spoke to our parents, to our forefathers, to the first man and woman. And until the time of Noah, the earth spoke only in one language. That was written in Genesis 11:11—

“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.”

According to the Bible, “the whole earth,” and that was until the time when Noah and his whole family had experienced the flood, until after settling to a plain which the Bible called as the Plain of Shinar. The whole of earth then was of one language and of one speech. And we can be very sure that such language was the language used by Noah, which he learned from his parents and grandparents, who, in turn, learned it from Adam. And certainly, that was the language, which was introduced to Adam by the Creator, because there could be no other being who could have taught them that language.

Remember that the only companions of Adam in the Garden of Eden were the animals and the birds that were brought to him by God for him to name. It is recorded in Genesis 2:19-20—

“And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.”

Therefore, there was nobody else fitting to help Adam because he was the only human being who existed that time. The only creatures surrounding him then were the cattle, the fowl of the air, and the beast of the field – all of them do not have the ability to speak. It was impossible that he could have learned his language from those creatures. For sure, Adam learned his language from his Creator who spoke to him in the Garden of Eden. In fact, He even instructed him what to do in the Garden; He also warned him what to eat and what not to eat. So, the possibility is, God taught Adam to speak. He must have heard God calling him Adam. Adam, or Adama, is one of the most ancient names spoke by man and by God, which had been recorded in the Bible.

During the time of our Lord Jesus and during the time of the Apostles, thousands of years after Adam, the word “Adam” was again mentioned by the Apostle Paul, and even by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us make the name that was given to you as an example. You did not choose your name; somebody just gave it to you. In the same manner that Adam did not choose his name and neither did he name himself. It was the Creator who named him Adam. Now, we are sure that the Creator speaks, and His words are clearly recorded in the Scriptures. But why are we saying that the words of God prove His existence? There is something that we need to clarify regarding the word of God. The Bible said, God cannot tell a lie. He does not lie and He would never lie. Titus 1:2 says—

“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.”

In that particular verse, the Apostle Paul is introducing to us the character of the God that he was serving. He is a God that cannot lie. Meaning, He will never tell a lie. And this pronouncement was given reiteration in Hebrews 6:18—

“That by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.”

St. Paul said that it was impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we are given an assurance that whenever and wherever God speaks, He is telling the truth. The Bible introduces Him as the God of truth. He never lies. What now is the kind of speech, or language, that God utters? Psalms 12:5 says—

“The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

Therefore, whenever the Lord speaks, He utters nothing but pure words – words as pure as silver that had been tried seven times. Our Church once had a discussion with a Born Again preacher who cited this verse. He said that the words of God are tried like silver. That is a wrong interpretation of the verse. We do not try God’s words! What is being tried is silver. And silver is tried seven times for it to be pure, in like manner that the word of God is pure. The words of God are pure; they are without blemish; they are without lies. That is how the Bible introduces the word of God.

Now, why is it right to believe that the words of God are concrete evidences of His existence? There are people who do not believe in the existence of God because they are ignorant of His words. But if you are going to examine His pronouncements of long ago, you will realize that most of His pronouncements are now coming to reality. They are now being fulfilled. His words are words of wisdom. His prophecies are being realized in detail right in our time. And that only proves that those words were spoken by an Authority – an Authority who never lies. And He is the God in the Bible.

And to prove that the word of God is pure and true, the angel sent by God have this to say in Luke 1:37—

“For God, nothing shall be impossible …”

The angel here was speaking to Mary, and Mary was asking the angel how she shall conceive when she had not known any man.

And the angel answered her and said, “For God nothing shall be impossible, whatever He speaks, whatever He say, it will surely come to pass.”

And it, indeed, came to pass. Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus, conceived without being touched by a man, not even by Joseph, her husband.

Now, if God’s words are true, and if we believe that in His magnificence, He has the capability to execute His words, then, whatever He says will surely come to pass. We have, now, a very important proof that God really exists – His prophecies and His pronouncements.

For example, long before man discovered that the earth is round, it was already pronounced in the Bible. Isaiah 40:22 says—

“It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretched out the heaven as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.”

According to the Bible, “It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth.”
There are people who want to cast doubt on this verse, saying that the circle being mentioned does not refer to the globe. When the Bible used the word “circle,” that already implies that the earth is round, because if it is not, then, there would be no “circle,” onto which God was sitting. God sitteth upon the circle of the earth.

But do you know that despite this biblical pronouncement, there was once in the history of the Catholic Church that the Pope had a disagreement with the scientist, Galileo Galilee? According to history, Galileo was expelled by the Pope because of his adherence to the Copernican theory, which was in contradiction to what the Pope believed in. There were so many things that they disagreed on, and one of them was on the shape of the earth. The Pope believed that it was flat. Actually, that was a common belief that time. They thought that the earth was flat and if you reach the edge of the earth, you will fall. They also believed that, based on the horizon, wherever the earth ends, there also is where the sky ends. But Galileo believed otherwise. He believed that the earth is round. And because of upholding a belief that was contrary to the belief of the Pope, he was expelled from the Catholic Church. And eventually, it was proven that what Galileo believed in was true.

Had the Pope understood what the Prophet Isaiah said 700 years before the time of Christ, he should have shared Galileo’s belief. He should have believed the truth in the words of God who cannot lie. God says that the earth has its circle. Therefore, it is a globe.

Scientifically, the Bible speaks of the truth. The Bible has, likewise, been proven to be historically true. History shows us that even before man experiences a particular event, such has been prophesied in the Bible long time ago. God had pronounced those things before they come to pass. Isaiah 42:9 says—

“Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

Who in the universe can foretell things in detail? Nobody! Psychics sometimes dare to make predictions, but most of the time, their pronouncements are false. But whatever God says is now being witnessed by mankind as they come to pass. They are all being fulfilled in God’s perfect time. Nobody can stop from coming true whatever God had foretold. Even God’s greatest enemy has no power to hinder the fulfillment of God’s pronouncements and prophecies.

In the book of Matthew, another of Christ’s prophecy is coming to pass right in our time and this was said by the Lord some 2000 years ago. Matthew 24:3-8 says—

“And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. All of these are the beginning of sorrow.”

You will see that these prophecies are of great dimension. And we may say that its scope is universal. Our Lord Jesus Christ said that after His time, many shall come in His name. That is why He said—
“Take heed that no man deceive you, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
When we started broadcasting the Gospel over the radio and television in the 1980’s there were but a few preachers and pastors then, compared with the number of pastors that sprouted in the 1990’s. And this is a realization of what our Lord Jesus said over 2000 years ago.
“Take heed … for many shall come in my name …”
But how many is “many”? Three are many. Four … five are many.
The American evangelists during those times included Rex Humbard, Jimmy Swaggart, and Benny Hinn. They were among the few preachers that you could hear and watch on television that time. But after a decade, the number of preachers have multiplied tremendously. And all of these religions profess that they know the God of the Bible and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

One of these religions teaches their members that Jesus Christ is the Father, and Jesus Christ is also the Holy Spirit; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one and the same person. That belief is not in the Bible but they teach that to their members. This group is called “Oneness”.

But there are also those who believe otherwise. They believe that Jesus Christ is the Father, but the Father is not Jesus Christ, and the Father and Jesus Christ are not the Holy Spirit. This group call themselves “Trinitarian.”

And if you are going to examine the belief of the Catholic Church about the trinity, they believe the three – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – are three equal persons in one God.
Of course, all of them are not telling the truth because, if they are telling the truth, they should be speaking only of the same thing. There should be no contradictions. There must be no contradictions in what they say. And they must all agree in one belief because the truth is only one. But why are they speaking of so many contradicting things? For one, many of them are not telling the truth because they are deceivers.

And this is a realization of the prophecy of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 23:4, All of those pastors are preaching Christ, but they are just deceiving many. And, indeed, they have deceived many. Why? Because there are many people who believe in Christ differently. There are those who believe that Christ is the Father; there are those who believe that Christ is different from the Father; and there are those who believe that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are but one person. In fact, there was one pastor who declared that the name of the Father is Jesus; the name of the Holy Spirit is Jesus; and the name of the Son is also Jesus. This is a weird and absurd belief. Why? The Father cannot be Christ, because Christ means, “anointed”. If Jesus Christ is also the Father, who would anoint Him? Somebody higher than Him must have anointed Him, and that is not Himself! The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ did not anoint Himself. Hebrews 5:4-5 says—

“And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. So also Christ glorified not Himself to be made an high priest.”

The Bible clearly mentioned that Christ did not glorify Himself to be made a high priest. He did not anoint Himself. If He is being called Christ, then, He is not the Father. According to the Bible, He did not anoint himself; He did not elect Himself to be a high priest. There is Someone who elected and anointed Him to be a high priest, and that is the Father. And that shows us that the person of Christ is different from that of the Father.
But Christ’s prophecy that many shall come in His name is now coming to reality now. And if we are going to consider His other prophecies, we will realize that whatever He had said 2000 years ago are being fulfilled right in our time.
